Research supports that the utilization of multiple research validated strategies and methodologies exponentially increases students' learning. Morrison Academy has carefully chosen those pedagogies that it feels will maximize students' learning. These identified strategies and methodologies are specified in the Pedagogy Configuration Pedagogy Configuration. It is the school's expectation that teachers will be knowledgeable and competent in appropriately utilizing these strategies and methodologies.  Observations may use either the Components of Professional Practice Rubric (for teachers) found in the book "Enhancing Professional Practice" by Charlotte Danielson, or the Morrison developed Library Media Specialist Library Media Specialist / Educational Technology Coordinator rubrics Educational Technology Coordinator Rubrics

Morrison schedules one day in August, two days in October, and one day in March to bring staff from all of the Morrison schools together to work o n curriculum development. During this annually scheduled time, opportunties for professional development are also scheduled. Six half-day (early release) professional development days are also scheduled at each school for the purpose of facilitating professional development activities (see Procedure 156).

Many of our personnel also take advantage of EARCOS workshops, the EARCOS Teacher's Conference, and the tri-annual ICEC Teacher Conference for facilitating their professional development. Some of our personnel also take advantage of other Professional Development Opportunities during the summer months and/or on-line courses as they work towards advanced degrees.

Professional Development is not an unqualified benefit but a system wide professional investment providing our staffs opportunities to grow within the learning community of Morrison Academy. Policy #3530 and Procedure #160 help guide our professional Development program.   For further information please see our Professional Development and Teacher Assessment Procedure Manual.
