What grade should my child apply for?
Kindergarten - Your child can apply if they are 5 years old by November 1st of the year they begin school.
First Grade - Normally, your child must be six years old by November 1st of the year they begin and they must have finished a recognized kindergarten program. Sometimes students without a recognized kindergarten year can enter Morrison, if standardized testing shows they are ready for the first grade.
Second - Twelfth Grade - Students normally enter the next grade, as shown on their school records. When students are transferring from another school system and the grade may be unclear, the following criteria are considered:
Past school records
Chronological age
Evidence of maturity
Results of entrance or other standardized tests
If your child is transferring from a national school in Taiwan, you may be asked to provide additional proof of their ability to function in an all-English school environment. If their English is not at grade level they may be able to participate in the ELL (English Language Learning) program which provides extra support for a small number of English language learners. The ELL program has an additional fee.
Morrison does not usually allow students to skip a grade because of high scores. We also do not allow students to repeat a grade unless there is some evidence they did not do well enough at the skills in the previous grade.

How will admissions decisions be made?
Admissions decisions are made by a council of people who look at 3 factors:
1. Whether your child meets the 6 requirements for admissions.
2. If there is currentlyspace available in your child's grade.
3. The school's priorities for admissions decisions:
First Priority-- Children of Missionaries (see definition in Policy #1613 MISSIONARY)
Second Priority-- Children of Christian Workers (see definition in Policy #1614 CHRISTIAN WORKER)
Third Priority-- Other children. The following factors will be given equal consideration in making enrollment decisions:
1. The applicant's potential for making a positive contribution to a Christian school environment;
2. Morrison's ability to meet the educational needs of the applicant;
3. The English language proficiency of the student;
4. Whether an applicant has brothers or sisters currently enrolled in Morrison Academy.
5. Whether an applicant is the child of Morrison alumni
Morrison practices fair admissions procedures which are not influenced by relationship and/or financial matters.
